Ward Gailey

Ward Gailey recently retired as the the Director of Music and assistant professor for Atlanta Metropolitan State College after 13 years. He is a seasoned tenor with credits in opera, recital, and oratorio. He conducted the college choir and taught voice, theory, and music appreciation. Ward has taught choral music at all levels, from elementary music through college for 33 years. Wherever he has gone, Ward has promoted vocal and choral music excellence.

Gailey has a Bachelor of Music degree in voice from the University of South Carolina and a Masters of Music degree in voice from the University of Illinois. He received training in music education at Columbus State University and Florida State University. Ward has served in numerous part-time church music positions, including Bethel United Methodist Church, Stockbridge, and Epiphany Lutheran Church, Conyers. He has sung professionally at both reform Temple synagogues in Columbus and Atlanta for some twenty years. He is also a published composer of choral music and continues to write for his choirs. He has been active with Atlanta’s Capitol City Opera since 1990. He is a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association.

Ward and his wife Lin, a retired flautist and special educator, have been married for nearly 39 years. They live in Conyers, GA. They have a married son of 36 years, Jonathan, also a talented singer and classic rock/blues artist.
